Morning Song!

3 months summer vacation is coming to an end, and tomorrow I am finally beginning my third year. Only nine more months to go. Nine months that I imagine will be intense and hard. Now I have to start setting the alarm again.
Every morning when my alarm rings I awake to the sound of Michel Polnareff's voice singing
"Âme Caline". I find it to be a great start to the day.
You can be the judge of that yourself.

Have a great week.

L'amour Naissent!

I really like this new song from Sebastien Tellier. The video is also really beautiful and simple.

Fall Summer Mix!

Turns out that I was completely wrong yesterday, cause there was another warm even more beautiful late summer day in store for us today. In the morning I went to meet Martin for coffee and a short walk and when I had to run some errands I decided to combine it with another walk.
I went through London fields for the first time after my return and was pleasantly surprised by the view of the huge wild flower meadow planted over the summer. There were heaps of people taking pictures. Of cause I could not resist either. I walked in between and the smell was amazing.
Walked back along regents canal along with runners and people riding their bike home from work. Happy that these last days before school starts are like this.

3 Colorful Things!

For the past couple of days it has been quite warm and humid and the sun has been covered by a veil of clouds. The anticipated Indian summer never came, nevertheless it has been nice. This afternoon I took a break from my dissertation reading and went for a walk in what will probably be the last day where I can go around wearing only a thin cardigan without freezing.
I was walking around the neighborhood looking for some colorful things to take pictures of. I sometimes find that hard in London as most houses and streets seems only to be different shades of grey and white. Still I managed to take at least three.
I could not resist the black beauty in the last photo. It was like she had rang the doorbell and just waited for someone to come answer the door, though I managed to steal her attention for a short second.

Asian Food Mood!

Lately I have been eating a lot of Asian inspired food. It is so quick and simple to make and taste great. I also really like eating with chopsticks, it is like there is more time to enjoy the food and then I love how sesame can make almost everything look amazing.

My favorite BimBimBap

Salmon sashimi

Fried soba noodles with vegetables.

Salmon with homemade teriyaki sauce

Pad Thai

Beef sukiyaki with vegetables and rice with barley.

A Sunday Walk In The Park!

Today I was waiting for an Indian summer that never arrived. The weatherforecast had cheated me. Though it was warm it was gray as London is and I spend most of the day inside working. But in the late afternoon right before the park closed and the sun went down I decided it was time for a walk, and finally the sun decided to reveal itself. It started slow, but at the end most of the sky was lightly blue. It was a nice way to end the week.

Something Royal

There is nothing more exiting than coming home to a slip from Royal mail, telling you that there is a parcel for you when you are not expecting anything. You wonder if you have forgot about a recent Amazon order, but come to the conclusion that it must be something else.
There is the overnight anticipation where you keep asking yourself who might have send you something. Different people come into mind, but you really don't have a clue.
And then when you go to the postoffice you tiptoe over the counter to try and see if you recognize the handwriting on the parcel and they finally hand it to you and you turn it around to learn the identity of its sender.
After there is the walk home, where you have time to wonder what it could possibly be. You judge the size and the weight of the package like a naughty child at Christmas time. And then when you are home and you open it, it never contains what you have imagined.
That happened to me today, and I have to say I would never have guessed to receive a French specialty by mail. It made me very happy; not only the actual cake, but the whole process. Those kinds of things rarely happen anymore.
So thanks to Ronan for giving my weekend a great start.

Something About A Fall Project!

Between my dissertation readings I have started up a new knitting project with which I have been procrastinating my studies a bit over the weekend.
Elisabeth gave me this beautiful Peruvian alpaca wool for my birthday and I decided that instead of adding another sweater to my collection I wanted to do a really long simple scarf. I wanted to use the linen stitch as it makes the knitting look more like it is woven and really flat and fabric like. It is much less fluffy and really brings out the qualities and different color in the yarn. It will probably take me a long time to finish, as this technique is quite time consuming, but hopefully I will be done by the time it gets really cold.

Sunday is... no. 8!

A beautiful sunrise seen through damp windows

Pancakes and blackbarries

Leaves beginning to fall

Hiding at Espressohut while the rain is reigning outside.

It is the time of year in London where the humidity starts to creep inside the house in invade the windows with water in the morning so it can be difficult to see what's outside. This means that fall has come and there is no way back.
My days resemble one another these days while I am waiting for school to start again. I get up, read, work, eat, walk, read, work, relax, run, eat more, relax, work, watch a movie, read, go to bed.
Today instead of a book I took my knitting to Espresohut and ended up chatting to a random fellow coffee lover while enjoying my cappuccino and brownie. Sometimes it is nice experiencing the word behind knitting needles instead of sticking my nose deep into a book.

A Purple Flower!

Now that it is really dull and rainy outside, it is nice to have a bright purple flower in my living room reminding me that it will again be spring and summer. It looks like a over-sized flower from chives, but I have no idea what it is called. Maybe one of you can help me?
I wish everyone a nice weekend.

A Days Spend In The Gallery!

Yesterday I spend a rainy day in Saatchi Gallery to see their exhibition on Paper.
There were so many nice things to look at and I could have stayed there for so long. I might go back an revisit another time before the exhibition closes. If you are in the London area I would definitely recommend visiting. I came out totally uplifted and happy from seeing all these nice artworks.
Here are some pictures of the things I liked the best (They are found online, as I did not bring my camera.

Paper Collage of houses laid out flat by Ann Toebbe

A Ginger!

Back in Berlin I planted this ginger and it was a success. I've heard that it is much bigger now than in these pictures and it made me want to plant another one which I did today.
I can't wait to see if it grows or not. Will keep you posted.
